Lions sweat over Graham injury

Scottish speedster Darcy Graham’s Lions tour is at risk after hobbling off during the British & Irish Lions’ final midweek game on Tuesday.

Graham had only recently been drafted into the squad, and his Lions debut against the First Nations and Pasifika XV only lasted 16 minutes before he had to leave the field for what looked like a serious ankle injury.

It’s a cruel blow for the 47-cap Scot, who had impressed in his short stint – racking up 54 metres from five carries, scoring a try, and drawing a yellow card for a high tackle. His early form may even have sparked hopes of pushing for a Test spot, especially after James Lowe’s underwhelming showing in the first Test.

According to Rugbypass, while no official update has been given, the nature of the injury and Graham’s visibly distraught reaction while being consoled by Finn Russell on the sideline, suggests his tour is likely over.

The sight would have worried both Scotland coach Gregor Townsend and Edinburgh’s Sean Everitt. Graham has endured a string of injury setbacks in recent seasons, and another layoff now looks likely.
