Foote extends with Junior Boks

SA Rugby has locked in the services of Junior Springbok head coach Kevin Foote.

Foote, who guided South Africa to their first World Rugby U20 Championship crown since 2012, has extended his contract until January 2029, according to Rapport.

The former UCT and Melbourne Rebels coach made an immediate impact in his first season in charge, with the Junior Boks beating New Zealand 23-15 in the final in Rovigo.

SA Rugby has also moved to retain Blitzboks head coach Philip Snyman, who steered the team to victory in the SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles in May. Like Foote, Snyman is contracted until January 2029.

SA Rugby is now in discussions with Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus about extending his contract through to the 2031 World Cup in the USA.

Erasmus is currently signed on until the 2027 tournament in Australia but is reportedly keen to stay on – with his full coaching team – for another four-year cycle.
