South Africa will experience a relatively calm start to the new week with no severe weather alerts expected for Monday, July 28, across the country.

The South African Weather Service has issued a “NIL” warning, indicating no significant weather threats, with clear skies and stable conditions dominating the national outlook.

Rainfall will be limited and isolated on Monday, with only two small regions expected to receive any precipitation.

A 30% chance of isolated morning showers is forecast along the northeastern escarpment around Musina and Polokwane, and also along the KwaZulu-Natal coast near Richards Bay. The rest of the country is expected to remain dry.

However, a significant shift is coming midweek. By Wednesday, July 30, a cold front will sweep in from the west, bringing cooler temperatures, strong winds, and rainfall.

The Western Cape, particularly around Cape Town and Worcester, will experience widespread showers, with a 60% chance of rain predicted in coastal areas and up to 30% inland.

Cooler air will spill across most provinces, with widespread “cold” and “cool” conditions marked by gusty winds, especially in the interior.

While much of the Eastern Cape will remain dry, it too will feel the chill, with warmer patches lingering only in the far southeast.

The Free State and Northern Cape will see a sharp temperature drop, but skies are expected to stay mostly clear. Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga can expect cool to cold conditions with gusty winds and no rain forecast.

After a peaceful Monday, South Africans should prepare for a noticeable drop in temperatures and wetter weather midweek, particularly in the west and southern interior.
