State of Palestine ready to govern Gaza Strip: Mohammad Mustafa – SABC News

The Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa says that the state of Palestine is ready to assume its governance responsibility in the Gaza Strip. He was addressing the Two-State Conference in New York.

Mustafa has also called for Hamas to relinquish control of Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority.

Mustafa told the Conference that Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners must be released immediately, in addition to the immediate withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip.

He declared that the State of Palestine is the only holder of the right to rule the entire enclave that Hamas assumed control over in 2007.

The Prime Minister further indicated that they rejected violence and terrorism in all its forms and were ready, based on a Security Council resolution, to invite a temporary Arab and international support force to provide stability and protection to the Palestinian people.

The conference concludes later Tuesday.
