Tshwane investigates possible water contamination at Montana reservoir – SABC News
The City of Tshwane says it’s investigating possible water contamination at its Montana reservoir, north of Pretoria.
It says residents have complained about smelly and discoloured water.
The reservoir is supplied by the Roodeplaat Water Treatment Works and it supplies water to areas such as Montana, Sinoville, Wonderboom, Annlin and Derdepoort.
Tshwane Spokesperson, Selby Bokaba, “The City of Tshwane is investigating recent reports of smelly and discoloured water at the Montana Reservoir. The City’s technical team is working diligently to determine the cause of the odour, with a view to restoring the quality of the water supplied to the reservoir.
In the interim, an alternative water supply through Rand Water’s back-up system has been implemented.”
