More pressure should be put on Israel to stop operations: Lamola – SABC News

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola says the Two-State Solution Conference under way in New York can forward an irreversible roadmap towards that goal despite the United States (US) and Israel boycotting the event.

He spoke to SABC News after addressing the conference in a discussion that also touched on the looming tariff deadline imposed by the US on South African exports and the lack of a permanent envoy to lead South African Embassy in Washington DC.

Lamola says Israel needs to stop its operations and the US needs to exert the necessary pressure for the famine and genocide in Gaza to cease.

He says,  “The precondition should be the cessation of hostilities which are already some of the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and also the UN Security Council itself, so there is a need for more member states to put pressure in the state of Israel, obviously sending a message also to the US, there will be a movement.”
