Earthquake of magnitude 6.7 strikes Russia’s Kuril Islands – SABC News
The German Research Center for Geosciences says an earthquake of magnitude 6.7 struck Russia’s Kuril Islands today.
The agency initially had pegged the earthquake at 6.35magnitude, with a 10-km (6.2-mile) depth.
The United States Geological Survey says the earthquake was at a magnitude of seven
The Pacific Tsunami Warning System, which also gauged the quake at 7.0 says there was no tsunami warning after the quake.
Last month, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck near the coast of the Kamchatka region in the far east of Russia.
