Eersterust murder case postponed, accused urged to seek legal aid – SABC News

The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court has advised a 36-year-old man accused of murdering an Eersterust woman to seek legal representation. This, after he told the court he would represent himself.

The case has been postponed to October 15 for further police investigation and a possible bail application.

He was arrested in Polokwane on Monday.

The woman’s partially burnt body was discovered on July 31st, weeks after she was reported missing.

The accused appeared without any legal representation and was advised to get somebody to speak on his behalf, somebody who is well-informed about the law.

He informed the court of his wish to represent himself. However, the magistrate advised that it would be in his best interest to seek legal representation.

As a result, he will be assisted by a Legal Aid lawyer upon his return. On that same day, he is scheduled to appear again for a similar offence related to the same matter.
