Twin truck crashes paralyse key N3 freight route – SABC News

Two major multi-vehicle crashes brought traffic to a standstill on the N3 Toll Route on Wednesday night.

The first, a pileup involving four trucks, forced the complete closure of Van Reenen Pass near Windy Corner, a critical freight artery between Gauteng and Durban.

Hours later, a second crash blocked the northbound lanes near the Estcourt South Interchange when two articulated trucks collided in low visibility.

According to N3 Toll Concession, heavy mist, rain and poor visibility are being reported along various sections of the N3 Toll Route, “causing dangerous driving conditions and placing additional pressure on emergency resources.”

N3TC confirmed that emergency teams were responding to both scenes but warned of “extended delays” as tow trucks navigated the treacherous weather.
