Violent home invasion leaves Chatsworth resident injured
A HOMEOWNER in Havenside, Chatsworth, sustained multiple stab wounds after four men entered his home in the early hours of Monday.
Residents alerted a local security company about the incident.
According to a report by Mzansi Securifire: “Four unidentified suspects had forcibly broken the door to gain entry into the property. Once inside, the intruders confronted the homeowner. A violent scuffle ensued, and the homeowner was stabbed multiple times. The suspects proceeded to steal an unconfirmed amount of items before fleeing the scene via the rear of the property.”
The report said the homeowner sustained serious injuries and was treated on the scene by Amawele Medical Services.
Rocky Naidoo, the public relations officer of the Bayview Community Police Forum, said: “Home invasions are becoming a norm in our precinct, and there have been a number of incidents where firearms have been used.”
He said the area in question was surrounded by vegetation.
“It is a Durban Metropolitan Open Space System area and the bushes are dense. Regrettably, the overgrown vegetation has not been cleared regularly, and as a result residents are prone to home invasions.”
