Gauteng motorists urged to exercise caution amid severe weather – SABC News
The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has urged motorists in Gauteng to exercise caution due to severe weather conditions in the province.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says the conditions include very cold temperatures, severe storms and strong winds.
The extreme weather would result in localised flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Hail and damaging winds are expected to occur on Thursday evening.
EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says, “From our side as the Johannesburg Emergency Services together with our specialized teams which responds to water related emergencies, like our aquatic rescue unit, we remain on high alert together with our fire department station of the City of Johannesburg for any emergency which might occur throughout the city. Our residents can call our emergency call centre on 0113755911 for any life threatening emergencies.”
