According to the SANDF, such activity is against its code of conduct and could seriously harm the military’s reputation.
SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini says that work uniform needs to be respected.
“You cannot express yourself in uniform. Remember the uniform is not yours, you don’t own the uniform. The uniform is paraphernalia given to you by the SANDF, which in the end becomes government property. There are disciplinary codes that go with such behavior, the code of conduct, for instance. And there are rules and regulations of how to behave yourself when you are in uniform.”
