Bloemfontein residents unite against youth violence – SABC News
Concerned residents of Phase 6 in Bloemfontein, Free State, say they are tormented by the killings of young people in their area. They say at least 10 people have been stabbed to death over the past 5 years.
Local resident Nthabeleng Hlongwane says he decided to take action after a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death just outside a local tavern.
“The reason I decided to organise this prayer meeting is because of the ordeal that has been happening to us a youth in Phase 6,” says Hlongwane.
He says that this has been happening for so long that they figured that enough is enough.
“It is not only the youth who are being killed because of various reasons of gangs, and whatsoever.” He adds that some youth have passed on before such things could take the major role in happenings inside their community.
