Makhubela’s family relieved as 3 suspects arrested for her murder – SABC News
The family of slain 20-year-old Gontse Makhubela says they can finally find closure. This is after North West police cracked an almost 2-year-old case by arresting three suspects linked to her 2023 disappearance and murder.
Makhubela was abducted while at work. Her decomposing body was discovered in Elandrand, near Brits.
Two suspects have recently appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court after they were found in possession of the deceased’s cellphone.
A Mozambican traditional healer is also expected to appear before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates Court on charges of kidnapping, murder, violation and defiling a corpse, as well as contravening the Immigration Act.
The deceased’s uncle, Isaac Makhubela, says the family is relieved that the case is progressing.
“I feel very happy. I even shook the hand of the Detective for great work, as all along he has been updating me about developments of the case, up until they arrested 2 suspects. The suspects are the ones who led investigators to the buyer, who is a Mozambican. The first 2 suspects are a South African and another Mozambican national, who led investigators to a traditional healer,” adds Makhubela.
