People march to Westville Hospital over alleged suspension of doctor – SABC News
People have marched to the Westville Hospital in Durban, protesting against the alleged suspension of a doctor due to racism.
Marchers have said there are reports that black doctors allegedly being isolated and discriminated against.
The organiser of the march, Sandile Madlala says they decided to take to the streets because nobody is prepared to listen to their grievances.
Madlala says there is a gang of doctors at Westville Hospital who plot against black doctors, especially Dr Duze.
“Duze has been the victim of discrimination, we got reports that he has been suspended from the board of doctors which is unfair. When they realised that we are serious about this mater, they denied reports that Dr. Duze has been suspended from the board. The community is not happy with initiative and patients are sick,” says Madlala.
Xolile Ngema and Sindi Shangase were among the marchers.
One of them says the situation affects them a lot, stating they had been helped by Dr. Duze, “They sometimes want to give or allocate us other doctors, which is not right.”
Another adds that they want their suspended doctor who they say is alleged to be bogus but is actually not.
The Life hospital group have not yet responded to a request for comment.
