Heavily pregnant woman and husband shot dead in East London home

East London police are investigating the murder of a couple in their home.

A man and his heavily pregnant wife were gunned down in their Reeston home.

Police have described the double murder as a “senseless act of violence”.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana says neighbors responded to the residence after hearing gunshots.

“Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of the victims, including the woman who was 8-9 months pregnant

“The female victim was found lying outside the kitchen door with two gunshot wounds to the left thigh and one to the stomach,” said Gantana.

Her husband was found deceased inside the house, behind the kitchen door, with two bullet wounds to the left side of his chest and one to his neck.

Police said at this stage, the motive for the attack remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. A police manhunt for the suspects has been launched.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.

“The SAPS strongly condemns this senseless act of violence and assures the community that all necessary resources are being utilized to ensure justice is served,” said Gantana.

The public is urged to report any information related to the incident to the Scenery Park SAPS or contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Information can be provided anonymously.
