Delegates at the National Convention at the University of South Africa (UNISA), in Pretoria are hard at work streamlining themes for discussion as well as a roadmap for the National Dialogue.

It is envisaged that every one of South Africa’s 4 300 wards will hold at least three dialogues in their community halls, schools, churches, and open spaces over a period of 12 months.
Mazibuko Jara is a one of the convenors of the Convention’s dialogues which are arranged along sectors and themes.
“In communities, in the streets, in wards and so on, will have discussion questions that will be sent to everyone in the country. There will be convenings of what dialogues everyone can walk in and raise their issues, but also using those discussion questions as a guide,” says Jara.
He says there will be platforms on SMS, on WhatsApp, online, for everyone to participate in the conversation.
“I’m sure every other civil society organisation or community will also have the right to convene their own dialogues, but the point is that we ask everyone to register online so that the dialogues can be fed into the overall process,” he adds.
