SA U18 second-half blitz sinks England
South Africa U18 ran in 11 tries to overpower England U18 at Paarl Gimnasium on Saturday.
The hosts built on previous wins – 43-21 over France and 45-5 against Ireland – to complete the U18 International Series unbeaten with a 69-24 victory.
They raced into a 21-3 lead through tries from fullback Jadriaan Afrikaner, No 8 Gert Kemp and outside centre Markus Muller, with flyhalf Liyema Nela slotting the conversions.
England rallied, however, scoring two converted tries to narrow the gap to 24-17 at half time.
But the second half belonged entirely to the South Africans, who struck seven more times while keeping England scoreless until the closing stages in a Paarl downpour.
Inside centre Ethan Adams, wing Junaide Stuart, tighthead prop JG Badenhorst, captain Muller, hooker Altus Rabe, flank Josh Neill and replacement centre Christian Vorster all dotted down as the hosts overwhelmed the visitors with both power and precision.
The result capped a dominant campaign for the SA U18s, whose blend of forward firepower and sharp backline finishing underscored their position as the best team of the series.
