Four people accused of child abuse and attempted murder are expected to apply for bail at the Johannesburg Regional Court this morning.

The four are allegedly part of a viral video that shows a four-year-old boy being instructed to light up and smoke an unknown substance.

The video was shot in Newclare, Johannesburg.

The footage sparked widespread outrage, prompting swift action by authorities.

During their previous appearance, the state indicated that they needed to verify the addresses of the accused before they could apply for bail.

The community of Newclare has maintained that they should remain behind bars as they seek justice for the child.
