Steenhuisen inspires learners at special needs Agricultural School – SABC News

Some learners at Dr Bohmer School of Skills in Bloemfontein have expressed their excitement over the visit by the Minister of Agriculture, John Steenhuisen.

Steenhuisen visited the school, which offers an agricultural programme for children with special educational needs.

The pupils say they have learned agricultural skills at the school, which will help them participate in the growth of the country’s economy.

The minister will also visit the Rosemead farm owned by a female farmer in Soutpan.

The visits form part of the minister’s outreach programme for women’s month, which aims to recognise and celebrate women’s contributions in the agricultural sector.

The learners say they are proud to meet the Agriculture Minister.

“I never thought that one day I would be with the Minister of Agriculture. Meeting him has been one of my dreams. The programme not only benefits us as the learners of the school, but it also benefits the country’s economy. The economy grows when we sell, and it’s also teaching us leadership skills. Here we work as a team, teamwork and all that,” one learner explains.
