Durban will soon host a celebration of creativity and cakes at The Independent on Saturday Cake in the Garden event at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Saturday, September 27, from 11 am to 3pm. Inspired by global cake picnic events, this elegant event will showcase the artistry of cakes in a floral-themed setting.

Guests are invited to bring a cake – either homemade or store-bought – designed with a floral touch. All cakes will be displayed on a central table of delights, and a selection of these cakes will be chosen to compete in a formal competition judged by a panel. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative and beautifully presented entries.

To ensure everyone enjoys the occasion, each ticket holder will receive five tokens to redeem for slices of cake of their choice, along with a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, relax under the trees, and enjoy the atmosphere of Durban’s most iconic garden.

Adding to the sense of celebration, attendees are asked to dress in floral attire, reflecting the theme of the day. Live entertainment and specially curated goodie bags will complete the experience, making The Independent on Saturday Cake in the Garden joyful gathering for cake lovers and families alike.

Tickets are R120 per person on Quicket. Each ticket includes entry, entertainment, a goodie bag, participation in the cake tasting through tokens, and complimentary tea or coffee.
