The Accident and Incident Investigations Division (AIID) has confirmed a crash that involved a Rockwell 500S light aircraft near George, in the Western Cape in which two people sustained slight injuries.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority’s (SACAA) Spokesperson, Sisa Majola, says preliminary information indicates a double engine failure approximately 15km from the George Airport.

“The aircraft departed from the Vereeniging Airport with an intent of landing at George Airport with two occupants on board, one a pilot, one a passenger. Both the occupants were taken to a nearby hospital,” says Majola.

He says the AIID will now publish a preliminary report on the SACAA website in 30 days of the day of the accident.
