GP Legislature commemorates the life of Babita Deokaran – SABC News
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Health and Wellness Committee says it will ensure that funds allocated to the provincial health department are used appropriately.
The Committee makes the commitment as it commemorates the life and legacy of whistleblower Babita Deokaran, four years after her assassination.
Deokaran, a senior Gauteng Health official, exposed corruption involving irregular tenders at the Tembisa Hospital.

Committee Chairperson Ezra Letsoalo says Deokaran’s unwavering stance against corruption continues to inspire the Committee in its oversight of the Department of Health.
“The Committee reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that public funds allocated to the Department of Health are used effectively and transparently. Through rigorous oversight, regular performance monitoring, and accountability measures, the Committee carries forward Deokaran’s values and dedication to ethical stewardship.”
