Malawian man caught running fraudulent document lab from an internet café in Eden Park
A 47-year-old Malawian national is behind bars after he was caught allegedly running a fraudulent document syndicate from an internet café in Eden Park.
The man was arrested on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, during a joint operation conducted by members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit and Eden Park SAPS, following a tip-off from concerned community members.
In a statement issued to the media, the City of Ekurhuleni confirmed that law enforcement officers were alerted to suspicious activities taking place at a premises located on K-146 Road, Extension 5.
“Upon arrival, officers found the owner and searched the premises, they discovered boxes full of fake school reports, asylum permits, passports, date stamp for certifying documents, medical certificate, to mention a few”.
The officers also confiscated the equipment believed to be used to run the illegal operation.
“The suspect was arrested and detained at the Eden Park Police Station.He was charged with fraud and for being an illegal in the country illegally, and he is expected to appear at the Palmridge Magistrate Court soon”.
