Multiple arrests and illegal firearms seized in Cape Town – SABC News

Police in Cape Town have arrested several suspects in separate operations across the city.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk says officers in Durbanville confiscated four firearms and arrested three men for the unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and drugs.

He says in Delft, a suspect was arrested after officers seized an illegal firearm at a known gang house.

Van Wyk says officers came under fire during patrols in Thubelitsa, Delft. They arrested one suspect for attempted murder and extortion, while two others escaped.

Meanwhile, in Grassy Park, police seized a large consignment of dagga and cash at a Lotus River property and arrested a 32-year-old man for drug dealing.

Van Wyk says all firearms will undergo ballistic testing, and the suspects are due to appear in court soon.
