Nandi Nyembe’s grandson describes her as a passionate woman – SABC News
The grandson of the late veteran actress Nandi Nyembe, Jabulani Nyembe, has described his grandmother as a passionate woman who’s charisma rubbed off on everyone in the family.
She passed away on Saturday at the age of 75.
Nyembe starred in multiple local productions such as Zone 14, Yizo Yizo and Isibaya.
Her grandson says he’s been going through social media posts and he can see that his grandmother was revered and, of course, loved by many across the country.
“Having seen the social media posts, the well-wishes and the highlights on her career have been a joy to see.”
He says his grandmother was a person full of life, full of love and a lucky individual and he believes her nature rubbed off on everyone in the family.
“She was also an extremely passionate woman, you could see it in her career and family. She was our pillar and I’m really gutted and in pain about this loss our family has to deal with. However, we cannot ignore the challenges she faced in her career. She often shared her struggles and life lessons with me. The biggest thing was to remain unwavering even in trying times. So you can imagine how we ought to keep our heads and remain in positive spirits even with this dark cloud hanging over us because that’s what she would have wanted.”
Nyembe says that going forward, they can just take his grandmother’s lessons and inspire the spaces they are in and ensure that her legacy is preserved in the best way possible.
He says the family will update the public on details of her memorial and funeral arrangements via social media.
