Eastern Cape police say they have shot and wounded a suspect. They also say they have recovered two firearms. This happened at Mseleni. One of the guns was licensed. The unlicensed weapon was found hidden under a mattress.

The 55-year-old man was taken to hospital for medical care under police guard.

The officers also visited a house at Mdeni in Qumbu, where they arrested a 19-year-old man for the alleged possession of two unlicensed firearms.

He will appear in the local magistrates’ court on Monday.
