Gurshwin Wehr’s finishing brilliance delivered a hat-trick in Pretoria, guiding Griquas to a statement win over the Bulls on Sunday.
The hosts opened the scoring when fullback Stravino Jacobs powered across the line and flyhalf Boeta Chamberlain converted for a 7-0 lead. Griquas responded through Wehr, the former Sharks speedster dotting down for flyhalf George Whitehead to level the scores.

Wehr struck again shortly after, and tighthead prop Cebo Dlamini rumbled over to give the visitors a 21-7 advantage at half time.
The Bulls’ discipline slipped after the restart, with captain Nama Xaba shown a yellow card. Griquas capitalised, Wehr completing his hat-trick to push the game beyond reach. Hooker Janco Uys added a fifth try and centre Zane Bester crossed soon after, extending the lead to 42-7 by the third quarter.
Replacement prop IG Prinsloo was shown a red card late, leaving Griquas to finish with 14 men. The Bulls took advantage when Junior Pokomela scored, before winger Katlego Letebele ran in a consolation try after the hooter to make it 42-21, but the contest had long been settled.
