The Western Cape Government has strongly condemned a spike in taxi-related shootings.

This after at least six people were shot dead in Philippi East, Khayelitsha and Macassar over the past two days.  

Western Cape Mobility Minister Isaac Sileku says those who are responsible for the violence will face the full might of the law. 

“This violence is nothing less than an attack on innocent commuters, and those who choose conflict over peace will face the full force of the law. I am exploring additional steps available within the regulatory framework to strengthen stability in the taxi industry and ensure accountability from operators and associations.”
