Tshidi Madia’s funeral arrangements to be announced this week – SABC News
Arrangements for the funeral of Eyewitness News (EWN) Politics Editor Tshidi Madia, are expected to be announced this coming week.
She died four days ago at the age of 42.
Madia had been admitted to hospital for two weeks after a short illness.
Media colleagues, friends and family attended Madia’s memorial services at her home in Leondale in eastern Johannesburg on Saturday.
Former EWN editor, Sibusiso Ngalwa says Madia has always been a star.
“She was a person who when she walks in, she immediately lifts the spirit in the room. When we launched a podcast, I remember there was a discussion we had as a team, as to how do we describe this podcast. And we settled on three words, feisty, fun and fire. And we felt that those are the words that best captured who Tshidi was,” says Ngalwa.
I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of seasoned journalist and broadcaster, Tshidi Madia, who sadly passed away at the age of 42 in hospital on Wednesday morning, 27 August 2025, after a short illness.

Moreover, EWN Deputy Editor Zikhona Miso says Madia’s laughter filled the whole newsroom.
Miso says as people who got to work with Madia on a daily basis, they got to know of her very loud laughter, her mischievous nature as well as her relentless in terms of how she wants a story to be told.
“But what I will remember Tshidi mostly for, is our walks in the corridors of Primedia, talking about what’s happening in the news, talking about life,” says Miso.
