Calls for dismissal of Prinshof teacher following rape allegations – SABC News
Civil Society Movement NotInMyName International is demanding the dismissal of a teacher at the Prinshof School for the blind in Pretoria, following rape allegations.
It is alleged that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her teacher in 2024.
The teenager confided in her father two weeks back, saying that she no longer feels safe at the school since the incident.
The movement is currently staging a demonstration outside the school premises, seeking justice for the learner.
Spokesperson Themba Masango is calling for the Gauteng Education Department to intervene.
“The Department of Education needs to come in here and handle this issue. Gender-based violence, femicide and the assault of young children, needs to be made a national outcry and we need to make sure that we take the necessary steps to make sure that we don’t have teachers like this amongst us,” says Masango.
