Court hears former KZN municipal manager funded Magaqa murder hitmen – SABC News

The Umzimkhulu Magistrate Court in KwaZulu-Natal has heard evidence from the investigating officer on how the murder of former African National Congress Youth League Secretary General, Sindiso Magaqa, was planned.

This as former municipal manager Zweliphansi Skhosana appears in court for a bail application for his alleged involvement in Magaqa’s murder in 2017.

According to an affidavit written by warrant officer James Sikana, Skhosana played a significant role in the murder by funding the hitmen.

Magaqa was injured when attackers opened fire on his car in July 2017.

He died in hospital months later. He was with Jabulile Msiya and Nonsikelelo Mafa in the car when he was attacked.

Meanwhile, Sibusiso Ncengwa, the man who pleaded guilty to being part of Magaqa’s murder, has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.

Ncengwa admitted to shooting Magaqa and pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Msiya and Mafa.

He also pleaded guilty to attempted murder of Nceba Mazongolo who was close to the scene during the shooting.
