Police in Limpopo have arrested a 40-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen vehicles at Vaalkraal, under the Dennilton policing area.
Officers went to an identified residence and found a 40-year-old man. Upon searching the premises, police found a red Renault Sandero vehicle parked inside the yard.
The 40-year-old man insisted he was the owner of the vehicle but could not provide proof of purchase and ownership.
“The motor vehicle was circulated and police discovered that it was reported stolen during February 2021 at Pretoria Central policing precinct, in Gauteng,” said Ledwaba.
Police continued with the search and discovered a blue Toyota Tazz parked inside the garage.
The Toyota Tazz was also circulated by police and it was subsequently revealed to be stolen at Kwa-Mhlanga, Mpumalanga, during March 2024.
The 40-year-old man was immediately placed under an arrest for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.
The recovered vehicles were confiscated by police.
Last week, IOL reported that police in Limpopo intercepted and recovered a stolen Toyota Prado VX, valued at R1.2 million, and arrested a 22-year-old man.
The 22-year-old man was allegedly heading towards the border, attempting to smuggle the stolen vehicle into neighbouring Zimbabwe.
“The operation was conducted on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, involving the Limpopo tracking team, Limpopo provincial investigating unit, working alongside external law enforcement, Tshimollo Security and Investigation Shadow Secure security,” said Ledwaba.
Intelligence information was received about a stolen Toyota Prado VX, which was stolen in Gauteng and was going to be smuggled into Zimbabwe.
“The operational team kept observation and collected information, and the vehicle was spotted driving on R71 towards Mankweng,” said Ledwaba.
The law enforcement team tried to stop the popular sport utility vehicle, but the driver sped towards Solomondale.
“The team gave chase, and the Toyota Prado crashed near the Solomondale railway line, colliding with a local school principal’s motor vehicle,” said Ledwaba.
The crashed Toyota Prado was intercepted in the bushes near the R81 road.
Investigations revealed that the SUV was reported stolen at the Lyttelton policing area in Pretoria on Wednesday, 27 August 2025.
