Suspended Deputy National Commissioner for crime detection Shadrack Sibiya and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola are appearing in the High Court in Pretoria.

Sibiya wants the court to declare his suspension unlawful in a bid to be reinstated.

Masemola suspended Sibiya in July for the alleged unlawful disbandment of the KwaZulu-Natal team tasked with investigating political killings.

He has vehemently denied this.
