Another suspect arrested in deadly Dawn Park CIT heist – SABC News
A second suspect arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit heist in Dawn Park in Boksburg will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng on Thursday.
The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Katlego Mogale, says the 41-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday.
Two suspects were wounded and two bystanders killed during a shootout with police.
The Hawks say two vehicles were recovered during the arrest of the second suspect.
A white BMW, which was confirmed as a vehicle that was hijacked in Randfontein in June this year, while a grey Mercedes-Benz was found to be clear on the system.
Another suspect, Kgomotso Zitha, also aged 41, was arrested on Monday and has already appeared in court.
He is facing charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
His case has been postponed to September 10 for a formal bail application.
The Hawks say investigations continue.
On Tuesday, two security officers from a cash-in-transit company sustained minor injuries after a heist on the N8 outside Bloemfontein towards Botshabelo in the Free State.
The Hawks say the incident happened when suspects rammed the vehicle transporting money.
The security officers are receiving medical attention in hospital.
