International Relations Minister, Ronald Lamola, has confirmed that South Africa’s new ambassador to the United States has been identified.

President Cyril Ramaphosa had said the country’s next ambassador will be well-versed about the US market.

Lamola was speaking in an exclusive interview with SABC News US Correspondent, Sherwin Bryce-Pease at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

He has, however, remained mum about the name of the next ambassador.

“No, it remains at an advanced stage and soon it will be announced in terms of who should be the ambassador,” says Lamola.
