Bok star goes under the knife
A key Springbok has undergone surgery after getting injured in the record 43-10 win over the All Blacks in Wellington.
Fullback Aphelele Fassi was taken down awkwardly by Scott Barrett during a carry down the touchline. He attempted to continue but was visibly hampered before being replaced by Andre Esterhuizen.
After the team’s return to South Africa, Fassi was among three players – along with Jean-Luc du Preez and Lood de Jager – omitted from Rassie Erasmus’ squad for the two matches against Argentina due to injury.

Confirming the news on social media on Friday, Fassi revealed that he had undergone an operation on his ankle.
“Surgery went well, R&R now. BRB. Thank you for the wishes and kind messages. Much appreciated,” he wrote on Instagram.
