South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will arrive in New York on Sunday evening to participate in the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly, marking its 80th anniversary this week.

The President’s packed programme includes participation in a two-state solution conference on Monday in relation to the Palestinian question, the General Debate on Tuesday and a reception for heads of delegations hosted by US President Donald Trump, among others.

President Ramaphosa lands around 9pm local time, ahead of engagements on Monday that include the pivotal two-state solution conference and a reception with African heads of state.

The General Debate is a key focal point on Tuesday, followed by a meeting at the Council on Foreign Relations and then a host country reception.

Wednesday sees Ramaphosa participating in a summit on a sustainable and resilient global economy, an event on the Global Leaders Network on Women, Children and Adolescents’ Health, a special event on Climate Action, followed by bilateral engagements with US Business and a trade and investment dialogue.

Ahead of his departure on Thursday, he participates in a G20 Foreign Ministers meeting on the margins of UNGA.
