The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the social grant payment schedule for October 2025, while also reminding beneficiaries about the steps required to change their method of payment.

According to SASSA, the payment dates are as follows:

• Old age grants: Thursday, October 2, 2025
• Disability grants: Friday, October 3, 2025
• Child support and all other grants: Monday, October 6, 2025

SASSA emphasised that all new grant applications now require biometric enrolment, either a fingerprint or a facial scan, to curb fraud.

Since the rollout on September 1, more than 42,000 clients have been enrolled at 432 offices nationwide.

In addition, beneficiaries who wish to change their method of payment are required to follow these steps:

1. Bring a valid South African ID and proof of account from the bank. If it is a new account, proof must be supplied; if it is an existing account, a three-month bank statement is required.

2. Visit the nearest SASSA local office to complete a consent form authorising the change.

3. Requests should be submitted before the 19th of the month to take effect in the following payment cycle.

SASSA urged beneficiaries to ensure their details are updated on time to avoid disruptions.
