The Lions are set to lose their star fullback if a new contract isn’t offered to him soon.
According to Netwerk24, the Lions have not yet reached a deal for a contract extension with Quan Horn. His current contract ends in June next year, and the Vodacom Bulls have already showed a keen interest in luring the 24-year-old to Loftus.
In addition to be being one of the Lions’ star players and one they’ll look to once again to spark their attack, Horn has also emerged as a strong leader within the group. He captained the Joburg outfit in their 27-25 Currie Cup final defeat on Saturday.
The fiery fullback made his Springbok debut as a replacement against Portugal in Bloemfontein last year.
Netwerk24 reports that the Bulls’ interest in him stems from the team’s desire to find a long-term replacement for 36-year-old Willie le Roux, who’s now in the twilight of his career.
Horn could also become Le Roux’s replacement at international level and could even be drafted in for the Springboks’ end-of-year tour to deputise for the injured Aphelele Fassi in the squad.
