Wallabies heavy unfazed by Eden Park aura
Wallabies prop Allan Alaalatoa insists the team will treat Eden Park as “just another footy field” as they prepare to end the All Blacks’ three-decade stronghold in Auckland.
The All Blacks haven’t lost at Eden Park since 1994, racking up 49 wins and two draws. But they face a resurgent Wallabies side brimming with confidence after rising to the top of the Rugby Championship standings.
Alaalatoa, back from a shoulder injury and set to feature for the first time in this year’s tournament, played for North Harbour during a provincial stint last year and knows the challenges of New Zealand rugby.
“They’ve obviously got a great record at Eden Park but at the same time it’s just another footy field,” he told the media in Auckland.
“The All Blacks are a great side, there’s no denying that. We’re going to focus on what we can do and what we can control and we’re going to work really hard this week to give ourselves the best chance on the weekend.”

Australia head into Saturday’s clash one point clear of South Africa and New Zealand, with two Bledisloe Cup matches still to play. The return fixture is scheduled for Perth on 4 October.
Alaalatoa expects the All Blacks to respond strongly after their record 43-10 defeat to the Springboks in Wellington.
“You definitely have an eye on the All Blacks and know that they want to make an improvement around their set piece,” he said. “Our reaction from their last game? It’s focusing on ourselves.”
