South Africa's KPMG trainee accountant mass email to colleagues predicting rapture sparks global debate
A trainee accountant at KPMG in South Africa, Mahlatse Letoka, has sparked a worldwide conversation after sending a mass internal email predicting the ‘Rapture’ would occur on 23–24 September 2025.
The email, replete with a 173-page PDF attachment, was addressed to KPMG employees globally, marking an unusual intersection of faith and corporate life that has since mesmerised social media audiences.
Letoka, who previously starred in Generations: The Legacy, identified herself as a “servant of Jesus Christ” in her email to colleagues. She urged recipients to prepare for the impending event, stating, “Please save the attached PDF quickly before it’s too late.” The email did not hold back its apocalyptic tone, warning of a forthcoming third global conflict and an imminent collapse of the economy, adding a layer of urgency to her prophetic assertions.
Letoka’s claims coincide with the Jewish Feast of Trumpets, a date frequently linked by some Christians to end-times prophecies. Her assertions about the timing of the Rapture have stirred significant debate online, with reactions ranging from alarmed responses to outright disbelief among her colleagues.
In her email, she wrote: “Please save the attached PDF quickly before it’s too late. I am a servant of Jesus Christ, and I rather get fired than watch my colleagues go through this. Listen, World War 3 is coming, and this entire economy is about to collapse (New York is likely to go down first). Jesus will take the Christians who are ready (filled with the Holy Spirit and prayed up) between 23-24 September 2025 (Feast of Trumpets) – this is what no one knows the day, or hour means (these ready Christians are not taken by aliens). This is the “Rapture”.
“…Rapture of Christians who are ready is coming. World War 3 is coming. Massive depopulation is coming. Beasts (“aliens” = demons) are coming. Antichrist will be revealed, and Muslims will worship him. Jesus is coming after this and will reign this world after 2032. Justice is coming” she wrote.
Letoka went on a tirade and criticised other faiths, labeling them as false and condemning their followers to hell.
“ They will never be able to erase the Truth even if they make Christianity illegal in these coming years. (Read the attached PDF to know the Truth and be Born Again ASAP otherwise you are going to hell).”
@mahlatse.letoka Dear people of God. Rapture is imminent. God did not tell me if it will be in September 2025 but I am saying that it is very very possible. Let us not rule out the possibility. If you are wise, you would not rule out the possibility. Stop listening to people who are trying to kill your confidence about the rapture. Please be ready. Test the spirits. Ask for confirmations from Jesus Christ Himself. Your pastor is not your confirmation, ask Jesus to show you straight up. #rapture #Jesusiscomingsoon #Jesus #christianity #jesusislord ♬ original sound – Mahlatse Letoka
In response to the uproar, KPMG has publicly condemned the email, clarifying that it was sent without proper authorisation. Through a statement, the spokesperson for the firm reassured the public, stating, “KPMG in South Africa is aware of an unauthorised internal email that was circulated and has taken immediate steps to address the matter.”
“The content does not reflect the firm’s values, and we firmly reject all forms of discrimination, including Islamophobia. We remain committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace for all.”
The fallout from Letoka’s email has manifested robust discussions on social media, where users have shared memes and various humorous takes, juxtaposed with expressions of concern about the implications of such beliefs being aired in a professional context.
