Convict in 2022 murder of German tourist sentenced to 25 years – SABC News


The 38-year-old man convicted of the murder of German tourist on the Numbi road towards the Kruger National Park in 2022 has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.

Napoleon Nyalunga was sentenced in the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court sitting in Mbombela.

The tourist, Jorg Schnarr was shot through the window of the minibus he was driving in.

He was travelling with his wife and two others when they were attacked on the Numbi road.

Judge Brian Mashile delivered the sentence through an electronic voice generator.

“The court sentences Nyalungu to serve imprisonment terms as follows: 25 years for murder, 10 years for attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances, seven years for possession of an unlicensed firearm, two years for possession of ammunition and the sentences shall all run concurrently.
