The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department has warned of severe delays on the N1 North before Winnie Mandela Drive near Fourways, after a fatal accident between a truck and two cars. Two people have died.

JMPD Spokesperson Xolani Fihla says all lanes have been closed to traffic to clear the scene.

“JMPD, we can confirm a fatal accident on the N1 North before Winnie Mandela Drive involving a truck and two other vehicles, with two fatalities being reported, the truck overturned spilling its load of cooking oil.

“EMS personnel and law enforcement officers are on scene, but motorists should expect severe delays and are strongly advised to exercise caution and to use alternative routes.”
