Roigard double seals Bledisloe for All Blacks
Cam Roigard marked his return from injury with a brilliant brace as the All Blacks held off a spirited Wallabies fightback to win at Eden Park.
The much-vaunted scrumhalf, back in black after two months on the sidelines, was the difference-maker in a tense Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup clash that saw Australia push New Zealand all the way at their Auckland fortress before going down 33-24.
Roigard crossed in the first half as the hosts raced into a 20-3 lead through tries from Caleb Clarke, Leroy Carter and the No 9 – only for the Wallabies to storm back before half time with scores from Billy Pollard and Harry Potter.
With the All Blacks wobbling and their 51-match unbeaten streak at Eden Park under pressure, Damian McKenzie’s boot nudged them clear again. But when Carlo Tizzano crashed over to bring the visitors within two points, the contest was alive heading into the final quarter.
Australia’s hopes faded when Potter was sent to the bin, and the All Blacks showed their trademark ruthlessness as Roigard darted through to claim his second and kill off the contest.

The result moves Scott Robertson’s side to the top of the Rugby Championship standings, setting up a final-round title decider, while ensuring the Bledisloe Cup remains in New Zealand hands for a 23rd straight year.
