The department’s spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila has urged people in low-lying areas to be vigilant.
“This follows the weather warnings received from the weathers service which shows that inclement weather conditions can be expected across the province from Sunday, Monday and Tuesday,” says Mzila.
Mzila adds that the weather conditions include heavy rains that could cause severe flooding in a number of low-lying areas.
“Disaster management teams will continue to monitor areas that are prone to weather related incidents.
Communities are urged to exercise utmost caution as these conditions do pose a risk to human life,” he adds.
