Three killed in Eastern Cape crash – SABC News


Three people have been killed in a collision between two vehicles on the R67 near Thambo village in Whittlesea in the Eastern Cape.

One of the three died in hospital after being seriously injured in the collision which happened Sunday morning.

The provincial Transport Department says a case of culpable homicide has been opened.

“Yes, we can confirm the death of these three people from the accident that happened just outside Whittlesea in the early hours of this morning. There are two females and one male. One other male is in a serious condition at Hewu hospital,” says Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Unathi Binqose.

She says the MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape, Xolile Nqatha is extending his sincere condolences to those families who lost their loved ones in this accident while wishing the one in hospital a speedy and full recovery.

“He also cautioned drivers, motorists in particular to be extra cautious as it is wet and slippery in some parts of the Eastern Cape.”
