Thirteen people, including a girl, have been killed in a horrific collision involving a minibus taxi and two trucks on the R81 at Ga-Sekgopo between Mooketsi and Polokwane, in Limpopo.

All the deceased were in the taxi. One truck driver sustained slight injuries while the other wasn’t injured. A minibus taxi carrying churchgoers had been trapped between the trucks.
Preliminary report indicates that the deceased are 12 women, a girl aged about 7 and a male minibus taxi driver. The collision victims were travelling from a church service at Solomondale township outside Polokwane to Magoro village, outside Giyani.
The Transport Department says the details of the deceased will be made known after their next-of-kin have been informed.
It has taken the emergency services personnel, traffic officers and police several hours to clear the scene. The possible cause of the collision is being investigated.
