Joseph lined up to replace Razor?
Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph has been confirmed as head coach of the All Blacks XV for the next two years.
Joseph, who was overlooked for the All Blacks job in favour of Scott Robertson before last year’s World Cup, returned home after a successful spell with Japan to take up a director of rugby role at the Highlanders.
He has since stepped back into the head coach position in Dunedin, and now adds the All Blacks XV to his portfolio.
New Zealand Rugby’s head of professional rugby performance, Chris Lendrum, highlighted Joseph’s credentials, saying his experience would be invaluable to the second-string national side.
“Jamie has coached and played at every level of the game and has a deep understanding of what it takes to prepare players for international rugby and to win on the global stage,” said Lendrum. “He’s a proven leader who knows how to get the best out of his players and build a strong team identity and culture.”

Joseph, who has long admitted his desire to one day lead the All Blacks, said he was excited to be back in the international frame.
“I’ve always loved the challenge of coaching at the highest level,” he said. “The All Blacks XV is a vital part of the men’s pathway, and I’m looking forward to helping players prepare for that step up and to represent New Zealand rugby with pride.”
The All Blacks XV will play the Barbarians in Brentford and England A in Bath in November, with another match yet to be finalised.
