Three-member team set up to determine Chauke’s fitness to hold office – SABC News

President Cyril Ramaphosa has established a three-member team to determine the fitness of Advocate Andrew Chauke to hold office.

The South Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions was suspended in July.

He is among others accused of weaponising and using the NPA to protect the politically powerful and corrupt individuals.

The inquiry will be led by retired Constitutional Court Judge Bess Nkabinde, assisted by Advocate Elizabeth Baloyi-Mere SC and Thenjiwe Vilakazi.

Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says, “The inquiry will look into certain serious allegations regarding Adv Chauke’s fitness and propriety to hold office as a Director of Public Prosecutions and as a member of the National Prosecuting Authority. In terms of the Constitution, the National Prosecuting Authority Act and the rules of natural justice, an inquiry as regards the allegations made against any Director of Public Prosecutions, should be conducted fairly and impartially.”
